Sesame Street spoofs Downton Abbey
After airing for nearly 45 years, Sesame Street is still killing it, remaining relevant for both kids and parents. The Sesame Street spoof of Downton Abbey is making its rounds on the internet this week. Behold, Upside Downton Abbey:
In 2009, long time Sesame Street writer Tony Geiss said, “It’s not an easy show to write. You have to know the characters and the format and how to teach and be funny at the same time, which is a big, ambidextrous stunt”. Beside spoofing PBS’ current big hit Downton Abbey, Sesame Street’s other great spoofs include Desperate Houseplants, True Mud and Birdwalk Empire, among others.
