Shirley Maclaine
Shirley MacLaine, born April 24, 1934 (Taurus)
Shirley Maclaine planned on being a ballet dancer until she grew too tall and broke her ankle. Maclaine, the older brother of Warren Beatty, skipped town after high school and moved to New York to start auditioning. She left dancing behind, but she’s still famous for her legs.
After 20 years in the movie business and numerous Academy nominations, Maclaine finally took home the Best Actress Oscar for Terms of Endearment in 1983. Maclaine has always raised eyebrows in Hollywood and found herself playing audacious and interesting characters, never the sex symbol. She’s also starred in more than one tear jerker after Terms of Endearment, like Steel Magnolias and Postcards from the Edge.
MacLaine has written a dozen best-selling memoirs explaining her psychic beliefs and new age philosophies. She believes we are all the architect of our own personal experience.
